How to convert HEIC to JPG

From a photo that will not open to a JPG you can use.

  1. 01

Choose your HEIC or HEIF photos

Drop files here or use the file picker. Add up to 10 photos and 100 MiB per batch. Each photo can be up to 30 MiB, 25 megapixels and 8192 pixels per edge.

  2. 02

    Set quality and dimensions

Keep detail retains the original pixel dimensions. Everyday sharing caps the longest edge at 2048 px. Adjust quality and size separately if needed; smaller photos are never enlarged.

  3. 03

    Check your previews and download

Convert, then inspect orientation, dimensions and actual file sizes. Save individual JPGs or download a ZIP. Failed files get their own message, while completed results remain available.

A new format. What comes along?

JPG makes sharing easier. Your original is still worth keeping.

Inspect image metadata
Dimensions and orientation
Original pixel dimensions are kept by default. HEIF rotation and mirror information is applied. A smaller longest edge resizes proportionally; check the result in the preview.
Quality and file size
JPG is lossy, even at a quality setting of 100. HEIC often compresses more efficiently, so a JPG may be larger. Each output card shows the actual size difference.
Location, camera data and transparency
Original EXIF, GPS and camera settings are not copied. Transparent areas become white because JPG has no alpha channel. Download names keep the original filename stem; they are not anonymized.
HDR, wide color and motion
The result is an 8-bit still JPG. It does not preserve original HDR, color profiles, depth maps or the motion part of Live Photos. Multi-image files export only their primary image.

HEIC to JPG questions

Are HEIC and HEIF the same format?

HEIF is an image container format. HEIC commonly contains HEVC-encoded photos, including many iPhone photos. This tool accepts HEIC and HEIF files it can decode as still images; not every codec stored in a HEIF container is supported.

Is HEIC to JPEG different from HEIC to JPG?

JPG and JPEG are two filename extensions for the same image format. This converter saves .jpg files, which can be used wherever ordinary JPEG images are accepted.

Will it convert an entire Live Photo or burst?

No. The output is a still JPG. Motion, audio and depth information are not exported. If one HEIF file contains several images, the primary image is used and the result card tells you how many images were found.

Why did one photo fail while others converted?

That file may be damaged, use an unsupported codec, or exceed 30 MiB, 25 megapixels or 8192 pixels per edge. A failed file does not discard other results. Download the completed JPGs, then try exporting the failed photo again from your photo app. Reducing the output size cannot bypass the input decoding limit.

How can I take JPG photos on my iPhone next time?

On supported iPhones, open Settings, then Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible. This changes the format used for compatible new captures; it does not convert existing HEIC files, and some camera modes may still require High Efficiency.
