About this tool
Crop one PNG, JPEG, WebP or AVIF image with mouse or touch. Drag outside the selection to draw a new rectangle, inside it to move, or at the bottom-right handle to resize. The responsive preview maps pointer positions to the decoded image pixel grid. Choose free selection or 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:2 or 2:3. Circle mode locks a square selection and masks it to a true circle. Final coordinates and dimensions are rounded to whole pixels, so a preset ratio may differ by a pixel. Export PNG, JPEG, WebP or AVIF; PNG ignores the quality control, while the other formats use lossy quality. PNG, WebP and AVIF can keep transparent circle corners; JPEG fills them white. Re-encoding keeps one frame and omits original metadata. Changing the image, selection or settings invalidates in-progress exports, and clearing the tool prevents an old download from appearing. Each input must be at most 40 MiB, with no edge above 8192 pixels and no more than 32 million pixels. Files are processed in this tab and are not saved as browser drafts.
Scenario Recipes
Prepare a circular avatar with transparent corners
Goal: Select the subject without accidentally exporting a rectangle or white corners.
- Load the image and turn on Circle crop; the aspect ratio becomes 1:1.
- Move and resize the square with mouse or touch, leaving enough room around the face or logo.
- Choose PNG, WebP or AVIF for alpha, crop and download, then inspect the actual dimensions and corners in the destination app.
Result: A square image with a circular visible area and transparent corners; the destination may apply its own mask.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I crop on a touch screen?
Yes. Pointer events support drawing, moving and resizing a selection with touch as well as a mouse.
What changes when circle mode is enabled?
The selection becomes square and the output uses a circular mask. The ratio selector is disabled until circle mode is turned off.
Do circle crops require PNG?
No. PNG, WebP and AVIF support alpha. JPEG does not, so transparent corners become white.
Are exported dimensions exact?
The crop uses the decoded source pixel grid. Coordinates and dimensions round to whole pixels; locked ratios can differ by one pixel after rounding.
Are original metadata and animation preserved?
No. The crop is re-encoded as one frame without copying original EXIF, GPS or other source metadata.
Can I crop several images together?
